On a day when Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns didn't shoot the ball very well, the defense made sure the opponent shot even worse.

The Cajuns held North Texas to 29 percent shooting and notched a critical road win over the Mean Green 57-53 at the Super Pit in Denton.

For Louisiana (16-13, 10-5 Sun Belt), it was their first win in Denton since the 2004-05 season.  The Cajuns had lost seven straight including a first round conference tournament game.

The win also clinches a winning season for the Cajuns, their first since winning the Sun Belt Tournament championship in 2004-05.

North Texas (15-12, 8-6) dropped a game to the Cajuns for the second time this year.  The Cajuns won the earlier game, 66-64 in Lafayette.

The Cajuns trailed early in the game, 19-12, but outscored UNT 20-6 over the final nine and a half minutes of the first half to take a 32-25 ead at the break.  The Cajuns never trailed in the second half.

Kadeem Coleby had eight blocked shots for the Cajuns, including three in the final 65 seconds to seal the win for Louisiana.

The win means the Cajuns can finish no worse than the #4 seed for the conference tournament in Hot Springs.
