Cajuns Crush Golden Eagles To Take Weekend Series

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun (13-3) baseball team continued their strong start to the 2013 season with another victory Sunday, topping the Southern Miss Golden Eagles by the score of 9-1 in a rubber game. UL has yet to lose a weekend series this year.
Austin Robichaux (2-0) earned the victory, allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run over 5.0 innings pitched. Ryan Wilson gave UL 2.1 strong innings, with Matt Hicks closing things out, not allowing a hit over the final 1.2 innings.
Offensively, the Cajun bats continued to shine, with Tyler Girouard shining brightest. His 4 hit 3 RBI day led the way for the Cajuns, who had a total of 12 hits on the afternoon. Jace Conrad and Nick Thurman added 2 hits apiece.
The non-conference weekend series will be the last of the season. From here on out, the Cajuns will play a conference foe every weekend. With no midweek games scheduled, Louisiana begins conference play next Friday at the Tigue for a conference series with ULM.
