Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun baseball team completed a weekend sweep of South Alabama via the mercy rule.

For the first time in school history, the Cajuns swept the Jaguars in Mobile, winning Sunday 13-3 in seven innings.

Greg Davis, who had a monster game in Saturday’s game 2, continued his solid weekend, going 3-4 today with 2 runs, 3 RBI, and a double. Caleb Adams dominated at the plate, going 4-4 with 2 runs, a double, and an RBI.

Dylan Butler (pictured) and Jace Conrad each added 2 runs, combining for 3 hits and a walk in 8 at bats.

“The hitters did a great job of coming back today and getting after it,” head coach Tony Robichaux said after the win. “The guys really took advantage of the wind. We never stopped competing and this is special to get a sweep at South Alabama.”

Senior pitcher Cody Boutte threw 6 complete innings on the mound, allowing only 2 earned runs, fanning 5 batters. He improved to 7-0 on the year. Seth Harrison, who has played in the outfield most of this season, looked sharped in his second inning on the mound, striking out two to help seal the deal for the Cajuns.

After claiming a Sun Belt Conference championship yesterday, Louisiana (46-7) returns home for the final 3 games of the regular season, battling ULM next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

First pitch at M.L. “Tigue” Moore field is set for 6:00 Thursday night. Jay Walker has the pre-game, beginning at 5:30. Catch all the action on ESPN1420 and espn1420.com.
