Last year, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team finished last in the Sun Belt Conference and failed to qualify for the conference tournament in Bowling Green, KY.

This year, they're picked a little higher.

The Cajuns were tabbed eighth by the league's coaches in a release by the Sun Belt Conference.  Florida Atlantic got five of the ten first place votes and are picked #1.  Arch-rival FIU is picked second, followed by South Alabama and Troy.  Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky are picked 5-7, with defending tournament champion ULM and UALR rounding out the poll.

Troy's Logan Pierce was selected as the preseason player of the year, while UALR's Chance Cleveland was the preseason pitcher of the year.

The Cajuns failed to land anyone on the preseason all conference team.

The Cajuns open their season Friday, hosting Central Michigan at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
