DJ Sanders is 1 of only 4 softball players in the country to be nominated for the prestigious Softball Honda Award.

Sanders standout 2017 season had coaches, fans and players from across the nation take notice. She led the NCAA in grand slams (6), and at the end of regular season play, ranked 1st in the nation in runs per game, home runs, home runs per game, RBI, RBI per game, total bases and slugging percentage.

The junior All-American led Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team this season in batting average (.388), home runs (29) and RBI (82), and matched the NCAA single-season grand slam record with six.

Softball's Honda Award is given each year by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) to the best female athlete in each of the 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports.

The nomination follows a long list of accolades for Sanders after her standout season. Already named a NFCA Division I First Team All-American, Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Louisiana Collegiate Softball Hitter of the Year, Sanders has a good chance to add Softball Honda Award winner to the trophy room.
