Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball catcher Lexie Elkins just wrapped up her collegiate career as one of the most decorated players in UL history.

She may add another prestigious honor to her resume soon.

Elkins is one of four nominees for the Honda Sport Award for softball. The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) made the announcement earlier today.

The three other nominees include Sierra Romero (Michigan),  Haylie McCleney (Alabama)  and Megan Good (James Madison).

Honda Sports Awards are presented to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA sanctioned sports. According to the CWSA, it is given to “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”.

Under those conditions, Elkins certainly qualifies.

She's a 3-time All-American, a three-time Sun Belt Conference player of the year an was a top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award. Had she not suffered a thumb injury that put her on the shelf for a portion of the 2016 seasons, she very well may have won the award.

Back in April, she was selected #1 overall  in the (NPF) National Pro Fastpich draft to the Pennsylvania Rebellion.
