Louisiana Ragin' Cajun running back Effrem Reed knows what his role is, and he relishes it.

For teams to be successful, they need an unselfish performer such as Reed, who is a third down specialist.

The junior out of Dutchtown High School, is an invaluable member of the offense, with his ability to catch the football out of the backfield, and his knack for picking up blitzing linebackers.

When the opportunity presents itself, Reed can also be counted on to run the football, as evidenced by his 414 rushing yards in 2012, which ranked second on the team.

In a deep an talented UL backfield though, Reed's primary role is that of a third down specialist, one in which he takes a lot of pride in.
