BYU Won’t Join Big East
The negotiations between the Big East Conference and Brigham Young University have ended.
The league is looking to expand to a twelve-team conference and BYU was courted as one of those schools. But the Mormon-based University was unwilling to budge on keeping its television rights.
The conference has been courting Navy, Boise State and Air Force as football-only members and UCF, Houston and SMU has full members.
The Big 12 had also courted BYU to replace Texas A&M, but once again, the television package was a deal-breaker.
