Butch Jones is leaving the University of Cincinnati to become the next head football coach of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Jones released the following statement about his new gig: "It is truly an honor and a privilege to be the head football coach at the University of Tennessee. I understand the values, traditions and level of expectations that come with this position, and I look forward to being a part of the Vol Nation."

Jones was offered the head coaching gig at Colorado, but turned it down. Much to the delight of Tennesse, the Vols signed Butch today to a 6 year deal.

Jones was 23-14 in his three seasons as head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats. Before Cincy, Jones was the head coach for three years at Central Michigan, going 27-13.

Tennesse athletic director Dave Hart sent out the following release after the hiring was announced: "I am very pleased that Butch Jones is the head football coach at Tennessee. Butch has a track record of success at every program he has led, and he views Tennessee as the job he coveted. We look forward to Butch leading our football program back to prominence."
