Coming off their best win of the season on Friday, the New Orleans Pelicans suffered one of their worst losses less than 24 hours later, scoring a season-low 72 points, and losing their superstar Anthony Davis in the second quarter. The end result was a lopsided loss to the Chicago Bulls, 107-72.

Davis suffered a right shoulder contusion after a scary fall following an alley-oop dunk. Guard Tyreke Evans led Davis with a lob pass that Davis threw down for a dunk to give the Pelicans a lead. As his body swung around, he lost his grip on the rim, falling horizontally to the floor.

Davis initially shook off the injury, remaining in the game for a few possessions before being pulled for good at the 4:16 mark of the second quarter.

Following Davis' injury, the Bulls outscored the Pelicans 72-37 the rest of the way.

X-Rays were negative, but Davis was wearing a sling following the game.

"He's a bit sore right now," said Pelicans head coach Monty Williams. "He couldn't move his arm the way he needed to so we got him out (out of the game). The doctors have to take a good look at him."

Davis' injury will be re-evaluated Sunday, as his status for Monday's home matchup with the Utah Jazz is currently up in the air.
