Former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has landed on his feet, joining the Buffalo Bills staff after his brother Rex hired him.

Rex, head coach of the Bills, hired Rob as assistant head coach and to the defensive staff.

Will Rob be defensive coordinator? Rex wouldn't specify, as Dennis Thurman was the DC last season, and Rob did not mention any changes to his defensive staff, though the door is still open for potential changes.

"I'm excited to have Rob join our staff, and I think he will be a great asset for our defense," Rex Ryan noted in a statement. "He has a tremendous working knowledge of our schemes and I look forward to his input.

"On a personal note, it's been a number of years since we have worked together. And so we are both really looking forward to this opportunity."

Rob was fired by New Orleans in November when the Saints defense ranked last in the NFL.

Rob and Rex are twin brothers and the son of former NFL head coach and defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan. Buddy is known in football circles as one of the great defensive minds in the history of the sport.
