Any coach would be happy to talk about a 5-1 start to the season, but Garry Brodhead takes being humble to another level with the Ragin' Cajuns.

In his weekly press conference, Brodhead emphasized how much fun he is having coaching this team. Why not? With Jaylyn Gordon scoring like she is next to Keke Veal and Kia Wilridge, it's enough to get you antsy when you realize Sylvana Okde should be back any time now to light it up from the perimeter.

Brodhead said Cajun Fans could see "Silk" sooner rather than later.

"She wants to get in there," Brodhead said. "I think you'll see her a little bit on Saturday."

The Cajuns' opponent, Dillard, could be in for a long game if Okde is out there stroking it from deep.

Aside from giving the players time to rest, this current break in the schedule is there for academic purposes first and foremost: it's midterm time.

Brodhead liked that his women have some time to focus on their grades and get everything in order in the classroom, but the coach in his gets nervous any time his team is away from the court for a while.

"I'm a firm believer that any break you have in basketball, it's kind of tough to get it going," Brodhead said. "You need a tune up game."

Dillard and UC-Santa Barbara will help the Cajuns get back in the flow of things before playing Louisiana Tech on December 19th in Ruston. Brodhead's crew will need to muster some intestinal fortitude up after midterms clear out of their heads. Their win over ULM gave put them in top position in the Sun Belt, but they will have to start defending their roost starting in January.

When the Cajuns are playing defense like this and scoring to boot, they're hard to stop. If Brodhead looks a little happy in his press conference, it's because he is.
