Bridges & Brignac Honored…Again!

Bridges, the Cajuns’ lone senior capped off the weekend with a 3-for-3 effort on Senior Day, with two doubles and two RBI. She also started the week in fine fashion by hitting her third grand slam of the season in the Cajuns’ win over Northwester State.The home run gave Bridges 21 on the season, tying her for the national lead. It also moved her career total to 65, the 15th highest mark in NCAA history. The three grand slams tie an NCAA single-season record while her five career grand slams are the fourth most in NCAA history.
Her high school and Ragin’ Cajun teammate Ashley Brignac was named Sun Belt conference pitcher of the week for the sixth time this season. The junior continues to put together dominant performances in the circle for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns. Here is more from ragincajuns.com.
Brignac got two wins in the Cajuns sweep of Western Kentucky, including a complete-game victory in UL’s only seven-inning game of the week on Saturday. Despite allowing two runs in the contest, Brignac kept the Cajuns bats in the game until they came to life in the seventh inning for the walk-off win.The junior returned to start on Sunday and threw four innings of one-hit softball in the Cajuns five-inning win over the Lady Toppers. The two victories move Brignac to 25 on the season, the most in the Sun Belt.
