Brewers, Dodgers Win Division Titles

Today there were a pair of one game playoffs to decide the champions of the National League Central and West Divisions.

When the dust cleared, the Los Angeles Dodgers won their sixth straight division title by beating the Colorado Rockies 5-2, while the Milwaukee Brewers won the Central Division and home field advantage throughout the National League playoffs by beating the Chicago Cubs 3-1.

MILWAUKEE 3, CUBS 1--Orlando Arcia had four hits and scored what proved to be the winning run as the Brewers continued their red hot play.  Christian Yelich singled home Arcia to give Milwaukee an early 1-0 lead.  Anthony Rizzo homered in the fifth to tie the game before the Brewers erupted in the eighth.  Arcia led off with a single and Domingo  Santana had a pinch hit double.  Lorenzo Cain's bloop single scored Arcia and Santana scored on a hit by Ryan Braun.  Corey Knebel (4-3) got the win for Milwaukee while Josh Hader threw two scoreless innings for his 12th save.  Justin Wilson (4-5) took the loss.

The Cubs will host Colorado in the Wild Card game tomorrow night at 7:00.  The Brewers will face the winner in the NLDS.

DODGERS 5, ROCKIES 2--Rookie Walker Buehler pitched one hit ball over 6.2 innings, while Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy each hit a two run homer to lead the Dodgers to their sixth straight West Division title.  Buehler took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, with Charlie Blackmon breaking up the gem.  Bellinger hit a two run homer off Rockies' starter German Marquez after Muncy reached on a passed ball following a strikeout.  Muncy then brought home Joc Pederson with his 35th homer of the season.  The Dodgers added another run in the fifth when Buehler's single brought home Kike' Hernandez.  Nolan Arenado hit his 38th homer and Trevor Story followed with his 37th in the ninth inning to avoid the shutout.

The Dodgers will host the Atlanta Braves in the best of five NLDS beginning Thursday.
