Texas State left hander Cory Geisler threw a complete game four hitter as Texas State evened the weekend series with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 2-1 Saturday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Geisler (4-1) allowed just one unearned run and struck out a career high eight batters in his performance, outdueling Cajuns right hander Wyatt Marks.

"Our at bats didn't get better as the night went on but you have to give their guy credit," Cajuns head coach Tony Robichaux said.  We've got to do a better job of getting a runner home from third.  We'll just have to flush it and come out and work tomorrow."

Texas State  got on the board in the fifth inning against Marks (3-5) on an RBI single by Luke Sherley.  The Cajuns knotted the game in the bottom of the inning on Ishmael Edwards' sacrifice fly.

Marks exited the game in the seventh when he issued a single and a walk with one out.  Jevin Huval came in and gave up a single to Sherley to load the bases and then issued a walk forcing in what proved to be the winning run.

"Wyatt threw well and gave us a chance to win," Robichaux said.  We gave them a run in the seventh and it cost us."

Marks allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in his 6.1 innings of work.

The Cajuns had runners in scoring position three times in the last four innings, but couldn't get the necessary hit.

The two teams will play the rubber game of their seriesSunday at 1pm.
