UL quarterback Blaine Gautier and LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu headline the 2011 Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Team.

Gautier, who guided the Cajuns to a 9-4 record, and a victory in the New Orleans Bowl, was named the Offensive Player of the Year, after throwing for 2,958 yards, and 23 touchdowns this year, both school records.

Joining Gautier on the All-Louisiana first team is tight end Ladarius Green, who finished the season with 51 catches, for 606 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Louisiana also had six players tabbed to the All-Louisiana second team, including offensive lineman Leonardo Bates, receiver Javone Lawson, defensive lineman Bernard Smith, linebacker Lance Kelley, cornerback Dwight “Bill” Bentley and kicker Brett Baer.

Mathieu was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year, after accumulating 71 tackles and two interceptions for the undefeated Tigers, who will be playing for the BCS title against Alabama on January 9.

Eight other LSU players join Mathieu on the first team, including offensive linemen Will Blackwell and Alex Hurst, receiver Reuben Randle, and running back Spencer Ware on offense, and defensive linemen Barkevious Mingo, and Sam Montogomery, along with defensive backs Morris Claiborne and Eric Reid on defense.

LSU’s Brad Wing captured Freshman of the Year honors, while Tiger coach Les Miles was voted Coach of the Year, and Louisiana Tech’s Quinton Patton took home Newcomer of the Year honors.
