Yes, our own Billy Ryckman, host of the Sports Note, which airs weekdays, from 11 am-noon, was quite the football player in his time.

Ryckman, a graduate of Lafayette High School, went on to play college football at Louisiana Tech, where he had a great senior season in 1976, leading the nation with 77 receptions, for 1,382 yards, and ten touchdowns.

Billy was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 10th-round of the 1977 NFL Draft.

He went on to play three seasons in Atlanta, catching 50 passes, for 743 yards, and five touchdowns.

Billy's best season was 1978, when he caught 45 passes, for 679 yards, and two touchdowns.

Ryckman was also a very steady kick return man over his three-year stint in the NFL.

We love Billy, and we know you do to. So, this is just a little tribute to remind you how good Mr. Ryckman was.

If  Howard Cosell said your name, you were "big".
