Big 12, Big East Leftovers Talking Merger
With speculation that the Big 12 and Big East are going to cease to exist as we know them, the schools that could be left behind in conference realignment are talking about coming together.
Sources close to the situation say that the two conferences would merge under the Big 12 umbrella because of a better television contract.
Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Missouri (an SEC possibility) look to join forces with Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia (another SEC possibility), South Florida and TCU.
There is no guarantee that the “new” Big 12 would attain automatic qualifier access to the BCS bowls.
