San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick wore a Miami Dolphins hat to a 4th of July party. With the internet being the way it is, Niner fans went berzerk. Kaepernick took it a step further, posting the above picture of himself on his Instagram account.

He then left the following message to his "fashion" critics:

This the hat y'all mad at? I'm goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won't let me in the building! #ridiculous #y'allmustbebored

Sports fans take things personal. Let's be honest, if a member of the New Orleans Saints wore a Seattle Seahawks hat, would some of the fan base be upset? Absolutely. If a member of the Saints wore a Falcons hat, would ALL OF THE FAN BASE go berzerck? You better believe it. At least Kaepernick didn't wear the hat of an arch rival.

For players, football is their job. For fans, football is their passion, their escape, and for some, the most important thing in their life. Fan is short for fanatical. People who are "outraged" that fans are "outraged" because Kaepernick wore a Miami Dolphins hat haven't spent enough time around sports fans.

Should Kaepernick be able to wear what he wants? Yes. It's a free Country.

Should Kaepernick be excruciated by 49er fans for wearing a Dolphins cap? No.

Would it probably be smart to stay away from NFL gear of other teams? Again, yes.

Perhaps that's why he uploaded this picture to his instagram account.
