When it comes to selecting the best player the Saints ever drafted from North Carolina, the choice is limited to running back Tyrone Anthony (1984), linebacker Sedrick Hodge (2001), tight end Brooks Williams (1978), and defensive lineman Bo Wood (1967).

The pick, amongst a very small group, is going to be Hodge, a linebacker, who played five years for the Saints, from 2001-2005.

After finishing his college career at North Carolina, Hodge was selected by the Saints in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft.

A native of Fayetteville, Georgia, Hodge played in all 16 games as a rookie, including one start, while compiling 18 tackles.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Hodge became a fulltime starter at right-outside linebacker in 2002, appearing in all 16 games, including 15 as a starter, while accumulating a career-high 57 tackles.

After moving to the left side in 2003, Hodge made 32 tackles in 9 games, all as a starter, before making 18 tackles in 9 games in 2004, including 6 starts.

In 2005, his final year with the Saints, and his final year in the NFL, Hodge appeared in 13 games, including 12 as a starter, totaling 36 stops.

Hodge was signed be by Miami Dolphins after he left the Saints, but was released prior to the 2006 season, when he then retired.

In 5 NFL seasons, all with the Saints, Hodge appeared in 63 games, including 43 as a starter, compiling 161 tackles and one sack.
