Without four of their top six players, and a hobbled Tyreke Evans suited up, the banged up New Orleans Pelicans kept it close for two and a half quarters against the NBA best Golden State Warriors, but in the end, the Warriors were too much to overcome.

After New Orleans cut the deficit to 66-61 in the third, Golden State did what they've done all season, putting on an offensive display that surged them to a 112-96 victory.

"We got overwhelmed with their pressure," said Pelicans coach Monty Williams. "They had us on our heels tonight in transition, whether it was on a make or a miss."

Golden State forced 17 New Orleans turnovers, taking advantage of the short handed Pelicans.

Six Pelicans reached double-figures, including backup point guard Norris Cole who led the team with 16. Alexis Ajinca and Quincy Pondexter each added 15 in the starting lineup, while backup center Jeff Withey played respectably, adding a season-high 14 points.

The simple reality is the injuries were too much for New Orleans to overcome. Anthony Davis, Omer Asik, and Ryan Anderson are all questionable for Sunday's game, while Jrue Holiday will be out.

Next up, the Pelicans travel to Los Angeles for a 2:00 tip-off versus the Los Angeles Clippers.

"It would be nice to get Sunday's game," said Williams. "It's a great opportunity for us."

With the loss, New Orleans (37-32) now trails Oklahoma City (39-30) by two games for 8th place in the Western Conference.
