The voters in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls were impressed with Alabama's blowout win over Michigan on Saturday.

Alabama vaulted past USC and LSU into the top spot in both polls this week.

Alabama got 45 of the 60 first place votes from the AP, and 37 of the 59 votes in the coaches' poll to distance themselves from second ranked USC and #3 LSU.

The top seven in the polls were identical, with Oregon rated #4, Oklahoma #5, Florida State sixth and Georgia #7.

Arkansas, South Carolina and West Virginia rounded out the top ten in the AP.  USA Today had West Virginia at #8 followed by South Carolina and Arkansas.
