The Auburn Tigers defeated the LSU Tigers, 8-7, in the opener of their SEC weekend series, on Friday night, in Baton Rouge. Jesse Delerno, of, has the story, below.

Down three runs in the ninth, No. 21 LSU (22-13, 3-10 SEC) scored two and put the tying run on first base, but the Tigers' rally fell short, and Auburn held on for the victory, 8-7, in Game 1 of the series Friday night at Alex Box Stadium.

Auburn (19-14, 6-7 SEC) plated six of its eight runs in the sixth inning en route to the victory.

Game 2 begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
