The Atlanta Falcons have reached a deal with former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to become their new head coach.

The Falcons had to wait until the conclusion of the Super Bowl to hire Quinn, who was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks for the last two years, his second stint with the Seahawks, with a stop at the University of Florida (2011-2012) in between.

The 44-year old Quinn, who becomes the 13th full-time head coach in Falcons' history, replaces Mike Smith, who compiled an overall record of 66-46 in seven season in Atlanta.

A Morristown, New Jersey, Quinn was also an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers (2001-2004), Miami Dolphins (2005-2006), and New York Jets (2007-2008) prior to his stints with the Seahawks and Florida.
