Matt Desormeaux is taking over where his brother, Michael, left off with the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators.

The message is the same, but the delivery is slightly different. The Desormeaux brothers are both fiery, and it rubs off on their players. The Blue Gators made serious noise in District 7-1A last season, and they made a solid run in the playoffs. For such a young program, AES is making moves in a hurry.

Mike Desormeaux and his quarterback, Jake Arceneaux, moved to the next level, where they will grind away for Mark Hudspeth and the Ragin' Cajuns. Both leaders are gone, coach and QB, but there is no panic in Youngsville.

The foundation is place, Matt is just building on it. Coach Desormeaux is an intense competitor, and he even runs drills with his players when somebody needs a partner. Young guys are buying into his approach early on, but that should come as no surprise. The "if it's not broke, don't fix it" method definitely applies here, but Matt is still putting his own touch on things.

Football season will be here before you realize it. Coach can't wait for kickoff, and can you blame him?

In the interview below, Coach Desormeaux talks about his team's attitude, some of the leaders on the squad and the message heading into the 2016 season. Enjoy, football fans.
