Shawn Long became the Sun Belt Conference's all time leading rebounder Saturday night, but it wasn't enough to keep the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns from suffering another road loss.

Louisiana did not get a field goal in the final 3:41 and Sean Gardner's three point play with :08 left was the game winner as Arkansas State came back from a 13 point second half deficit to defeat the Cajuns 71-69 Saturday night at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.

The Cajuns led 69-68 after Long made 1-2 free throws with :34 left.   Devin Carter was fouled with :14 left and missed both free throws.  But Frederic Dure got the offensive rebound, setting up the winning score.

Long missed a three pointer as time expired.

The Cajuns trailed 38-34 at the half, but opened the second half on a 17-0 run over the first 7:19.  Long and Johnathon Stove each scored four points, Steven Wronkoski nailed a three point basket and Long scored five straight to give the Cajuns a 51-38 lead.

But the Red Wolves (8-7, 4-0 Sun Belt) scored ten of the next 13 points to get within six points, 54-48 with 10:13 left.  After a Devonte Walker dunk, Arkansas State scored five straight points to cut the lead to 56-53 with 7:47 to go.

The Cajuns (5-7, 1-3) got the lead back to seven points, 64-57 at the 5;37 mark.  But Carter scored seven straight points to tie the game at 64 with 4:11 left.  Stove hit a jumper to give the Cajuns a two point lead, but the Cajuns would not get another field goal.  Carter tied the game with 2:05 left and the teams traded free throws until Gardner's play.

The Cajuns missed their final six field goal attempts and made just two for their last ten.  The Red Wolves, meanwhile, made four of their last five.

Carter led the Red Wolves with 25 points, 16 in the second half.  Dontee Thomas added 20, while Gardner chipped in 13.

Long got his 61st career double double and became the Sun Belt Conference's all time leading rebounder in the contest, passing South Alabama's Augustine Rubit.  Long finished the game with 25 points and 15 rebounds, but no other Cajun player hit double figures in the game.

Louisiana shot 39% for the game and made 5-18 three point baskets.  Arkansas State shot 40 percent for the game, 36% in the second half.  The Red Wolves made 3-13 from beyond the arc.  The Cajuns outrebounded Arkansas State 44-38, but turned the ball over 15 times, while Arkansas State was whistled for just 11.  The Red Wolves outscored the Cajuns in points off turnovers, 18-6.

Louisiana will try to break their seven game road losing streak next Thursday at Georgia Southern.
