Three number one overall picks were on the floor in Cleveland Tuesday night, and one stood out above the rest. Anthony Davis played like a true All-Star, leading the New Orleans Pelicans (19-25) to their third straight victory, a 100-89 win over the Cavaliers.

Davis, the NBA's leader in blocked shots, showed off that asset in a big way, swatting 8 Cleveland shot attempts. In addition to the blocks, he scored 30 points on only 18 attempts, and grabbed 7 boards. He'll learn Thursday whether or not he's an All-Star, something that doesn't concern Davis as much as victories.

"I hear it, but I'm trying to win games," explained Davis. "I'm trying to get better each and every day. If it happens, I'll be more than grateful and more than excited to be able to play."

His head coach Monty Williams shared his opinion on the subject matter, in that he didn't have to share much.

"Everybody keeps talking about All-Star, and should he be an All-Star," Williams said. "All you have to do is look at tonight. Show me other bigs who are doing it on both ends like he does every single night."

Davis gave his coach a scare late in the 4th quarter. With less than 3 minutes to play, Davis reached in for a steal, dislocating his left index finger. As he went to the bench for a timeout, he was grimacing in pain. However, Pelicans trainers pushed his finger back into place, and Davis was back on the floor at the end of the media timeout.

His performance outshined Cleveland's two number one overall picks in Kyrie Irving and Anthony Bennett.

Irving, who has had a strong season in his 3rd year out of Duke, scored 23 points. Bennett, a rookie out of UNLV, has struggled mightily this season, but gave Cavs fans a little something to be hopeful for. His 15 points and 8 rebounds Tuesday night was his best stat line of the season.

A better stat line belonged to Pelicans guard Eric Gordon, who scored 20 points, dished out 9 assists, and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Without starters Jrue Holiday and Jason Smith, and leading scorer Ryan Anderson, the Pelicans have had a tough January. However, New Orleans has shown great resilience as of late, winning 3 straight games, thanks in large part to Davis' outstanding play.

Next up, the second game of a road back-to-back Wednesday night in Minnesota. Tip-off versus the Timberwolves is set for 7:00.
