New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis pinned an open letter this week titled, "You Can't Choose Family". In it, he expresses his emotions following the untimely passing of Ingrid Williams.

Davis shared the letter on The Cycle.

after his career game

Davis noted his disbelief the day he learned of Ingrid's death. Ingrid, the wife of former Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, died from injuries she sustained after her SUV was struck by another vehicle in Oklahoma City. She was 44 years old. Her and Monty have 5 children together, ranging from ages 5 to 17.

"You can’t choose family. Those are the people that God puts around you, to help you and to guide you. That’s why family means everything to me; family can’t be replaced. And so I’m heartbroken right now because Monty and Ingrid Williams are like a second family to me," writes Davis as he begins his letter.

Ingrid was a big part of players lives, as her and Monty helped them cope with adjusting to life in the NBA, as well as personal losses and hardships.
