Many years ago, when the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns were first in the Sun Belt, then-UNO head coach Tim Floyd had a different way of looking at the standings

"If you win on the road, that's plus one," he said then, "and if you lose at home, that's minus one."  And, it made sense.

Winning on the road in college basketball is the toughest thing to do in sports.  So, getting a road win was worth a point  Conversely if you lost at home, that means your opponent got a road win against you.  So that was worth losing a point.

When we look at wins and losses in conference standings, we look at just that...wins and losses.  We don't take into consideration where those games took place.  At the end of the year, everyone has the same amount of home and road conference games...so the plus/minus theory was really more accurate.

With our thanks to Coach Floyd, here are the current standings in the Sun Belt
