Exercise rider David Nava takes Animal Kingdom for a morning training session in preparation for the 143rd running of The Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on June 10, 2011 in Elmont, New York.

Gene Menez, of SI.com makes his selections.

Personally, I like Nehro, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby, and is rested, after not running in the Preakness.

If Animal Kingdom wins, there would be no doubt as to who is Horse of the Year.

I agree with Menez, in that the distance is probably too much for Shackleford.
