Update: Ransom Taylor, the father who took his daughter from her grandmother's house nearly two weeks ago, triggering a recent Amber Alert, will not face charges in the case.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies tell our news partners at KATC that Ransom Taylor does not face charges because he has no restrictions on his custodial rights as a parent and that the case is closed. Spokesperson Captain Kip Judice says no one else is facing charges in the incident either.

Update: Kailey is currently in the custody of Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies.  She is in good health, good spirits and being reunited with her mother.

The child, Kailey Kristy Taylor, was abducted by her father, Ransom J. Taylor following a domestic disturbance with his wife.

The father, Ransom Taylor, changed cars.  He is now driving a Black Grand Prix with temporary tags .  The direction of travel is unknown but the suspect was last known to be living in the Lafayette area.

Based upon events on the previous evening, law enforcement had reason to believe the child’s life is in imminent danger.  Captain Kip Judice said the Ransom Taylor sent a message to his wife saying he would harm himself and his daughter.

Anyone having any information as to the whereabouts of the suspect should immediately contact the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-236-5871, 337-280-9405 or “911”.
