New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry has now completed his staff with the hiring of Phil Weber as his last assistant coach according to multiple reports.

Weber comes to New Orleans from the NBA D-League Sioux Falls Skyforce where he was serving as head coach. Weber was on the Phoenix Suns staff during Gentry's time as head coach, while also spending time as an assistant with New York Knicks, and time as a consultant for the Miami Heat.

Weber will work with players on shooting and fundamentals, according to Pelicans blogger Michael McNamara of bourbonstreetshots.com.

Described as an incredibly positive at all times, Weber "gets down and dirty with players as a clinician; (is) prone to aphorisms; (and is a) bachelor whose Peter Pan lifestyle is the subject of derision and envy", according to an anonymous GM who spoke with Scott Kuschner of The Advocate.

He played collegiately at NC State under the late Jim Valvano, known as one of the greatest motivators in sports history.

Weber joins assistants Darren Ehrmann (assistant head coach), Robert Pack, Kevin Hanson, Fred Vinson and Elvin Valcarael.

Besides coaching, Weber is also a motivational speaker.
