Aldon Smith Of 49ers Booked On DUI And Possession Of Marijuana

Pro Bowl defensive end Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers has been booked in Santa Clara County's main jail for possession of marijuana and suspicion of driving under the influence.

San Jose police were called to the scene of a single car crash this morning involving Smith. He received a breathalyzer test, and was booked for a DUI.

The DUI marks the second for Smith, who was arrested in January of 2012 for the same offense.

He is also currently being sued in Northern California by a man who was shot at Smith's residence during a party.

The 49ers released the following statement about Smith's latest transgression with the law:

"The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith. As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment."
