The following is a game preview of Acadiana vs Sulphur, written by the voice of the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams, James P. Bitterman.

The Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams (7-0) used one of the most dominant performances in school history to defeat the Sam Houston Broncos (3-4) last Friday by the score of 70-0.  The Wreckin’ Rams scored 7 rushing touchdowns, 1 passing touchdown, a punt return for a touchdown and a fumble return for a touchdown.  Across the board, it was a very impressive effort for the Rams.

This week, the Sulphur Golden Tornadoes come to Bill Dotson Stadium Friday night, led by junior QB Morgan Clark (100-146-4, 1,592 yards, 17 TDs). He’s elusive, and has only been sacked twice on the season. The Tors offense is also led by senior RB Glenn Willis (135 car, 954 yards, 10 TDs).  The Terrible Turk defense will have to continue their good play to limit their 8th straight opponent to less than 300 yards of total offense.

The Wreckin’ Rams have been without the services of running back Ziggy Francis for the last two weeks, but Jaylen James in a win at Comeaux. He followed that up with an 11 carry, 166 yards, 2 rushing touchdown, 1 punt return touchdown and 78 yards 1 TD receiving performance in last week’s 70-0 rout of Sam Houston. Dillon Monette has been impressive as well, going for 15 rushes, 151 yards and 2 touchdowns versus Comeaux, and 5 rushes 79 yards and 1 touchdown versus Sam Houston.

The pre game show Friday night starts at 6:02 p.m. with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.  The game can be heard over the air in the Acadiana area on the am dial at ESPN 1420, on the internet at espn1420.com, and on the free smart phone app RadioPup.

With Dutchtown beating St. Amant last week, only 3 teams remain undefeated in 5A football.  West Monroe (opponents wins = 34.7), Acadiana (opponents wins = 33.3), and Covington (opponents wins = 29.2).  If all 3 teams go 10-0, the power rankings will come down to opponents’ wins. Acadiana fans will be rooting for Kaplan, Ruston and Carencro victories the rest of the season.  District games have one team winning and one team losing, meaning those games have zero effect on the ultimate power rating.
