(Tonight’s Acadiana football game versus Sulphur can be heard on ESPN1420, espn1420.com & the RadioPup app. Pregame begins at 6:02 with James P. Bitterman. Kickoff follows at 7:00)

A special game preview, from the voice of the Wreckin' Rams, James P. Bitterman

Last Friday night at Bill Dotson Stadium, the Acadiana Wreckin Rams (3-3, 2-1) needed a fire to be lit to get them going.  Social media after the game speculated that the fire either came from Father Tom and Father Andre appearing on the Rams sideline (they each have all access passes), or from the insertion of Myles Hutchinson at quarterback.

Wherever the fire came from, it was needed as the Wreckin Rams rolled to 262 yards of offense from that point, after having only 17 yards on their first three drives.  The Terrible Turks held Comeaux to 75 yards of total offense, helping the Rams procure a 28-0 victory.

This week the Wreckin Rams travel to Lagrange in Lake Charles for a district matchup with the Sulphur Golden Tornadoes (4-2, 3-0).  Sulphur is playing their games at Lagrange this year as they are getting a brand new stadium built.

Sulphur is led by the State's leading rusher Derrick Guillory. On the season, Guillory has 1,460 yards on 203 carries and 14 touchdowns.  He’s also the owner of the fourth highest single game total in the State as he rushed for 340 yards on 42 carries and 3 touchdowns vs Holy Cross in week 2.  Sulphur lost to Holy Cross that night, but has been undefeated since.

Last week the Tors travelled to Carencro and spoiled the Bears homecoming with 42-31 win. Sulphur ran the football 60 times for 297 yards versus Carencro, with Guillory accounting for 45 rushes and 244 yards.  At the pace he’s currently on, Guillory has a good chance to break former LSU running back Jimmy LeDoux's single season rushing record. Having noted that, no one knows for certain. The historical records are somewhat diluted, as the older state football records aren’t entirely documented.

With the dangerous Golden Tors hosting Acadiana, the Wreckin Rams are going to have to play their best football tonight in week 7.

The game can be heard over the air on ESPN1420, on the internet at espn1420.com, and on the free smartphone app RadioPup.  The pre-game show begins at 6:02 p.m. with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

Next week is homecoming for the Wreckin Rams as they take on Sam Houston.

Also, next week be on the lookout as James P. Bitterman will unveil a very special sign he is having made.
