(Catch tonight’s Acadiana vs Comeaux game on ESPN1420, espn1420.com & Radio Pup. James P. Bitterman comes on the air at 6:02 with pregame. Kickoff follows at 7.)

Two teams, the Comeaux Spartans(2-3) and Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams(2-3), are in need of a win. They meet tonight at Bill Dotson Stadiu in a District 3-5A showdown.

As was the case when Acadiana faced Lafayette high two weeks ago, fans don’t want to show up late. Comeaux has thrown 42 passes on the year, while Acadiana has only thrown 40. Expect plenty of rushes and a game clock that won't stop much.

The Spartans opened their season with two straight victories, then took Carencro to two overtimes last Friday night before falling 24-27.

Comeaux is led offensively by running back Scotty Thibodeaux (54 carries for 275 yards yards and 5 touchdowns). Hunter Register gives Comeaux a big play threat. He has returned two punts for touchdowns (42 yards, 59 yards), a 70 yard kickoff return for a score, and two interception TD returns (43 yards, 77 yards).

In an interesting twist, Doug Dotson will coach for Comeaux in the stadium named for his father. Joining him on the Spartan staff is Matt McCullough. Acadiana’s baseball stadium is named after his Dad.

Last week the Rams suffered a tough loss to the Barbe Buccaneers. As has been the norm this season, the Rams just can't get all cylinders firing at once. The good news for Acadiana is they are number 15 in the unofficial power ratings as released by the LHSAA.

All of Acadiana's opponents so far this year have winning records, with Shades Valley, Alabama, being 6-0. The biggest game of Shades Valley’s season is tonight, as they play Clay-Chalksville. Clay-Chalksville ranks number 2 in 6A in Alabama while Shades Valley sits at number 3. Rummel is 5-0, and might be the best team in Louisiana regardless of classification.  LHS is 4-1, Barbe is 3-2 and Northside is 3-2.  Thus, if the Wreckin’ Rams can get all cylinders firing they have a good chance of getting a first round playoff game.

The game can be heard on your radio dial on ESPN1420, on the internet at espn1420.com, and on the smart phone app called Radio Pup.

Next week, the Wreckin’ Rams travel back to Lake Charles for a matchup with Sulphur. The game will take place at Lagrange. Sulphur is playing all home games there this year as they get a new stadium. The citizens of Sulphur passed a bond issue to raise the funds necessary for the new stadium.

The power ratings for local teams in 3-5A look like this:

6.  Carencro
15.  Acadiana
16. Sulphur
24. Lafayette High
25. Sam Houston
31. Barbe
39. Comeaux
47. New Iberia
