The Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams look to rebound after suffering their first loss of the season last week to the Shades Valley Mounties (4-0).  The Mounties won 39-21 with a physical brand of football that wasn’t equaled by the Rams.  Shades Valley ran 64 offensive plays to Acadiana's 40, controlling the game in the second half.

The road for the Wreckin’ Rams (1-1) gets no easier as they travel to Metairie to face the Rummel Raiders(2-0). Rummel comes off a hard fought 3 overtime victory over Hahnville, 37-31.

Offensively, the Raiders are led by junior quarterback Chase Fourcade. His first career start came last season when Rummel played Acadiana. For the season, Fourcade is 13-23 passing the football for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns.  He’s rushed the football 19 times for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Rummel also has a 3 headed rushing attack behind Fourcade, with sophomore Devin Hutton (6-1 235 pounds), Maurice Bailey (5-10, 170 pounds), and Brandon Phillips (5-11, 200 pounds), accounting for 401 yards on 69 carries.

Defensively, the Raiders are led by defensive lineman Briston Guidry, a 6-3, 265 pound junior, who has already committed to Mississippi State. Joining Guidry is Tyrell Jacobs, (6-3 245) an elite prospect and an Oklahoma commitment.

Rummel also has plenty of size on the offensive line as evidenced by 6-3, 330 pound Joe Oliver and 6-4, 300 pound Larry Robinson.

Acadiana will counter with its veer attack led by Tulane commitment Malik Eugene. In only two games this year, Eugene has scored 6 touchdowns, 5 rushing and one on a kickoff return.  Malik has touchdown runs of 4, 30, 56, 40 and 74 yards, to go along with a 76 yard kickoff return.

The Rams have their work cut out for them, but a tough non district schedule will only make the Wreckin’ Rams better prepared for district football that kicks off next Friday night at Bill Dotson Stadium versus the Lafayette High Mighty Lions.
