Every week, Scott Prather and I present Terrible Tune Tuesday on the "Sports Gap" just after 4:00 pm.  And, normally we both choose some pretty bad ones.  But every once in a while, my co-host chooses a song that makes me scratch my bald head.  And, judging by the people who heard it yesterday, Scott just might be ready for a straitjacket.  Don't believe me?  Check this out.

Alanis Morrisette

SCOTT'S CHOICE--"IRONIC"--ALANIS MORISETTE (1995)--Honestly, to take a hit record for what is considered to be one of the top ten CD's of the '90s and call it a terrible tune is just amazing.  But that's what Scott chose yesterday.  Morissette's "Jagged LIttle Pill" has no bad songs...Not one.  But Scott chose this because the lyrics of the song don't fit the definition of "Ironic."  And, while Mr. Prather may be technically correct, to suggest "Ironic" is a terrible tune is, as I said to him yesterday, un-American.  Scott replied Morissette is Canadian, to which I said, "well isn't THAT ironic."

JAY'S CHOICE--"THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WHOLE USA"--DONNA FARGO (1972)--It was really not unusual back in the 60's and 70's to have songs cross over from the country charts and become big hits.  Here's a prime example.  If you're eating pancakes while listening to this song, you won't need syrup.  But what makes this really terrible are two lyrics:  A skip-a-dee-doo-dah day and a bojangle clock.  Please, what the hell is a bojangle clock?  A clock made of chicken?
