Despite having the best record in all of baseball, the New York Yankees have had their share of injuries this season, some of them to key players.

You can now add Alex Rodriguez to that list.

Rodriguez was hit by a pitch from Seattle Mariners' ace Felix Hernandez and suffered a broken bone in his left hand.  He will fly back with the team and be examined by team doctors back in New York on Thursday.

Rodriguez was hitting .276 with 15 homers and 44 RBI.

The Yankees, who have lost five of six on their west coast swing, are expected to play Eric Chavez at third base.
