For a week that was supposed to be lacking in big games or traditional rivalries, this week sure gave us a lot of excitement. West Virginia and Baylor showed us an offensive shootout for the ages. Stanford became the latest Top Ten team to bite the dust. And Texas and Nebraska both needed fourth quarter comebacks to keep their conference title hopes alive.

After an off-season filled with scandal and controversy, seeing college football back on the field was a welcome sight. While early season games for Top 25 teams often feature blowouts of lesser opponents (and we certainly had several of those), this week we were also treated to a pair of matchups between Top 25 teams as well as some outstanding individual efforts. Some questions were answered, other teams now have even more. Here is a recap of all the action in the Top 25 this weekend.

LSU Eases By Kentucky
The top ranked LSU Tigers beat up the Kentucky Wildcats in Baton Rouge today by the score of 35-7. Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu set the LSU record for forced fumbles, and scooped up the record setting fumble for a touchdown on the play. Freshman wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. reeled in 3 passes for 75 yards and a score. Quarterback Jarrett Lee remained the starter, but Jordan Jefferson got snaps, running 4 times for 29 yards and a score. He did not attempt a pass.
LSU Crushes West Virginia
#2 LSU improved to 4-0 Saturday night, defeating #16 West Virginia by the score of 47-21. The Tigers win over the Mountaineers is the third this year against a ranked opponent in a game not played in Tiger stadium. Morris Claiborne returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Jarrett Lee threw for 3 scores as the Tigers rolled.
