While Tiger Woods hasn't dominated the golf world the way he used to, he was still the highest paid athlete on the planet every year for a decade. He's now been knocked off his financial perch, moving down to number 3 behind two athletes who compete in a sport currently involved in a dark cloud of scandal. Forbes.com released their yearly list of the 100 highest paid athletes of the last 365 days.

The world's richest athlete of 2012 is Floyd Mayweather, despite the fact that he didn't make a dime on endorsements in the last 365 days. Mayweather can't spend his money right now, as he's sitting in a jail cell, serving a 3 month sentence for reduced domestic battery charges.. His salary in the last year off of salary and winnings was a whopping $85 million.

His rival Manny Pacquiao is second on the list with $62 million. Tiger Woods, whose earnings dropped by $19 million in the last year, was third on the list with $59.4 million.

Peyton Manning was the highest ranked football player on the list, coming in at number 10. Despite not playing a single down of footbal due to a neck injury, Manning made $42.4 million since last June.
