The 2018 college softball season was another special one for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana was ranked in the top 25 all season, qualified for postseason play for the 19th-consecutive year, and finished the season with a sparkling 41-16 record.

Sure, softball is a team game, but in most cases, good teams have players who provide great individual accomplishments, and the Cajuns were no different.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'll look at ten of the best individual feats by UL players during the 2018 season.

Yesterday, I looked back at a great opening weekend by pitcher Kylie Jo Trahan.

Today, Casidy Chaumont:

On Sunday, February 18, after dropping the first two games, Louisiana was looking to salvage the final game of a three-game, non-conference series against the 2nd-ranked Florida Gators.

The Cajuns got 11 strong, gutsy innings from starting pitcher Summer Ellyson, but trailing, 3-2, in the bottom half of the 11th inning, they needed the offense to step up.

Third baseman Kara Gremillion had a 9-pitch at-bat, before doubling, to bring freshman second baseman Casidy Chaumont to the plate, representing the potential winning run.

The product of Sam Houston High School delivered in a big way, crushing a two-run walk-off homer off of Aleshia Ocasio, to lift UL to a dramatic 4-3 win.

Even though Louisiana was unbeaten, at 6-0, heading into the Florida series, that win seemed to legitimize them, and prove to everyone that they were capable of playing with, and beating, anybody in the country. After all, Florida went on to win 56 games and qualify for the Women's College World Series.

For Chaumont, a talented young player with a terrific future; she would go on to hit 4 more long balls, and finish with 6 homers on the season.

None were bigger than the one she hit on February 18, however.

Chaumont will likely always remember her first collegiate homer, as will Cajun fans.
