Top-ranked Indiana broke a first place tie in the Big Ten Conference Tuesday night with a 72-68 win over Michigan State at the Spartans' home arena.

Indiana now has what amounts to a two game lead in the race for the #1 seed in the Big Ten tournament after sweeping the season series from MSU.

Michigan State had its chances late but missed free throws were an issue down the stretch.

Victor Odalipo led Indiana with 19 points, six of them in the final minute to key the win for the Hoosiers (24-3, 12-2 Big Ten).  He also added nine rebounds and five steals.

Gary Harris led the Spartans (22-5, 11-3) with 19 points, but missed the first of three free throws with his team down by three with 3.7 seconds left.

The Spartans had led by four with 1:38 left.
